What does Missions mean to you? Is it a sense of going? Is it someone who is "set apart"? Is it for someone else? Mission can conjure up a whole host of ideas in people's heart. If you say "There goes a man/woman in a mission" There is the idea that the person is purposeful, authoritative, driven (perhaps even JCB like - no one is going to stop them) Sometimes the church has even fallen into that trap - we are going to go, change and impose our way and culture on someone else. We are also aware of the other side of missions too though. Missionaries like Gladys Aylward who was not accepted by the mission authority. Instead of giving up Gladys was obedient to the calling she felt, spending her life savings on a passage to China. Today is the day. It has been over a year since my sister had a prophetic word about writing a book, and it took a year to write and organise....but today is the day when "Marigold the Journey home" by Marisa Rosie finally arrived on her doorstep from the Lithuanian printer. A story for kids of all ages about the Fatherheart of God and how much God loves each one of them. Giving has always been part of what I do. Recently my husband and I made the decision that we should start teaching our eldest daughter about the principle of Biblical giving. It always seems to surprise me that the act of giving is often thought of as "after everything is paid for, I will give from what is left". Really it should be I give from the gross amount and then I live off the rest. My daughter's Sunday school adopts two children with Compassion.   So we made the family decision that rather than us giving my daughter money for this and she throws it in the jar, we should incorporate this into her pocket money. We then give her the option to decide what she should or want to give. This in turn teaches her about money, budgeting and giving. Even at the age of 8, she is beginning to understand the cost of a weekly comic and the difference in cost to a monthly one.  My sister took a Sabbatical last year to write a book. It is a book for children, but children of all ages. Last weekend I had the pleasure of reading the final print draft before publishing and I have to say it was a very enjoyable easy read. I know you may think "You would say that about the book, since your sister wrote it" but I really do mean it. I am a busy mum and whilst I enjoy a good book, it takes me ages to get through one. The book itself is in simple language suitable for early readers as well as adults and tells a story about the Fatherheart of God. The book is going to be published within the next few weeks.
